No more foreign fighters for local events

Kelantan Teams Not Allowed To Import Muay Thai Exponents

TANAH MERAH, April 19 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan state government has barred state teams from engaging the services of foreign Muay Thai exponents for competitions.

Committee chairman for Human Development, Youth, Sports and NGO's, Abdul Fatah Mahmood said the decision was among terms and conditions set by the state government to allow Muay Thai competitions to be organised in the state.

"The condition however does not apply for international competitions," he told Bernama here today.

He added that the main objective of state to allow Muay Thai competitions was to develop the sport and produce more talented local exponents in the sport.

"If teams engage foreign exponents to compete in local tournaments, it will defeat the purpose of organising such competitions and also result in local aspirants staying away from such competitions," he said.

Abdul Fatah said a seminar would be organised next month for those who are interested in the sport and is expected to be opened by Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

This is just a timely statement from the YB. Hopefully we can still enjoy as many event as we have now in Kelantan despite the ruling.

How good it will be if 'international' event is organized as an 'international' event.

p/s Hehehe..I'm the first today.

Hopefully they can enforce this ruling. Soon we will be seeing 'international' muaythai events being organized all over Kelantan where foreign nakmuays will continue to dominate at the expense of aspiring locals.
Zack, congrats! You beat me this time.

Is this the ideal way? If this concept apply to others sports and What if our badminton players keep on playing with Malaysians players and not Indon, China, Europeans.. Our standards then became a joke.

Better challenges comes better improvements. Period.

This condition is only applicable to local ( close ) competition, and not open international; so that local clubs will have to send local boys instead of foreignors..

This condition is imposed because too many clubs are registering Thai boxers to fight as a local thus depriving the local fighters from competing.
The ban was lifted because the state government was promised that this game will encourage youth to participate and inculcate in them the spirit of respecting others especially the elders and create a healthy society.
Since there is no governing body to regulate the event, things seem to be out of hand in Kelantan lately as a club banned by one organizer for breaching certian conditions will send their fighters to fight under a rival organiner.
Now the task of regulating the sport is given to Persatuan Boksing Kelantan. Any event not sanctioned by The association will not be given the permit by the respective Local Authorities where the event will be held.

What is the point making that statement as if local close competition can afford to fund foreign fighters. Comment cam tak comment at all, hahahahaha.

Just discussed with the Secretary of Kelantan Boksing Association, the last fight of the night will be an open category where foreign fighters will be allowed to fight preferably with a local Nak Muay or even with another foreign fighters just to draw the crowd and to learn from the better foreign fighters. Don't underestimate their ability to pay.
