Kudin-Khuntheb will replace Hamdan Mokhtar

Kudin/Khuntheb the King of Sharks, will replace Hamdan Mokhtar in the Malaysian Super 8 Contender Qualifier.

Kudin who represents the Malaysian Tigers will replace Hamdan Mokhtar who has unfortunately pulled out due to a knee injury.

Seminar in KL-WMC Malaysia

The Malaysian Tigers on behalf of WMC Malaysia were part of a seminar conducted at a fitness center here in KL recently. According to the WMC Vice President, if you can hold the pads for our 'tigers' you can hold them for anyone!

Kudin 'Raja Jerung' says "Pegang kuat-kuat, ok"

Ismail Ramli, kicks the pad held by a seminar attendee.

Bernard Radin, Malaysia's Contender Asia Season 2's first Qualifier, holds the Focus Mits for Stephan Fox.

As Malaysia will be hosting Contender Asia Season II, we predict an explosion of interest in Muaythai, with many people enrolling in traditional Muaythai classes as well as fitness Muaythai classes run by Fitness Centers such as this one.

Stephan Fox-visits our WMC Gym in Kelana Jaya

We were honoured last Friday as Mr Stephan Fox, vice President of the WMC and Secretary General of IFMA, paid our WMC Malaysia Gym a visit. Mr.Fox, along with Hanarong, trainer of Contender Asia fame, put our Malaysian Tigers through a tough training session. As usual Mr.Fox impressed us all with his high energy levels and charisma!

For some of our 'Tiger Cubs' this was their first time to be acquainted with Mr.Fox.

"Is that all you've got?". "Kick faster............... my mother kicks harder than that!

An after class prep talk by Mr. Fox. "You all show great potential and I'm sure Malaysia will someday(hopefully soon) produce a World Champion. But you must train very hard! We can get you the world's best coaches, we can help you but you must also help yourself......!-Well he said something along these lines :)

More on Ali vs Flip

This article is taken from the WMC website-
The main event was Mohd Ali B Yaakub, the Malaysian Champion versus Flip Street for the ASIAN Pacific Title. Yaakub took the fight on short notice and put on a great performance. He stepped up a division demonstrating that Malaysia is really developing as one of the world powerhouses for fighters. However, it was Flip (under traiing of world famous, John Wayne Parr) that made Australia proud that evening by taking a point decision and keeping the Asian Pacific Title belt for Australia.

It was a great performance by Yaakub from Malaysia who will be taking on Australian champion, Chris White in his division next. Flip will be defending his title against the next Asian Challenger.

Congratulations to Strike Force. Keep watching Fox Sport and the WMC Network!

Kudin Wins!

Kudin Ko's his opponent in the first round.
Our Malaysian Tigers were so happy to be back to fight in front of their home crowd. Kudin was no exception, he relished this chance to fight in front of family, friends and beautiful GIRLFRIEND :)
As we had expected he controlled his fight, and impressed his old supporters with his newly learned combos, with compliments from WMC Lamai.

During his match Kudin was anchored by his Tok Guru from Kelantan, this truly touched us. His former trainer wanted to give our team captain the honour of removing Kudin's mongkol but Bernard insisted that Kudin's previous trainer do the honour. It was this man who dedicated his time and care toward's Kudin for many years and we really appreciate and will never forget that.

Congratulations Kudin. You fought really well and have made us really proud. It's amazing how such a shy guy in real life, has such a confident demeanor in the ring. Entertaining the crowd with his well timed smiles and undefeatable spirit. It's no wander Kudin draws the crowds in Kelantan!

As for Zeri, poor guy, his fight was postponed due to heavy rain. It rained all day and night so the organisers had no choice but to postpone the fight for that night. His fight is rescheduled for the 24th of this month.

Kelantan Event

The event in Kelantan was an eye opener for us. We knew Tomoi or the Malaysian version of Muaythai was big in Kelantan but had no idea it was this big. Here in Kelantan there are events almost every other day. During the school holiday weekend we were there, there were three 3Day events running simultaneously but in different districts.

We never expected such a warm welcome here. Everyone was so supportive of us and eager to show us their local talents! Our Malaysian Tigers were also keen to introduce us to their family and friends.

Bernard never expected such a warm welcome and couldn't believe he actually had fans in Kelantan! In Kota Bharu at a Wedding Kenduri, one of the talented local fighters parents turned out to be big fans of his, following his progress from the time of Ultimate Warriors 07 in KL.

Needless to say we have signed up 5 new talents(Malaysian Tiger Cubs!) for our gym in KL and look forward to introducing them to all of you!

We'd also like to thank Pok Nik for being so welcoming and also the President of the Persatuan Seni Tomoi Kelantan, Pak Hassan for his hospitality.

Kelantan Event

We are in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. I never knew that Kelantan was this beautiful! No wander our Kelantanese boy's are so proud and homesick of this relaxed and scenic land.

The fight we were at last night was organised by Pok Nik at Wakaf King (Baroh Morak).-Here are the details-
The first night fight card:-

1. Muhamad Yusop-Singa Malay, Bunuhan vs
Mohd Nabil Taib-Anak Sri Paloh

Muhd Yusop won because Mohd Nabil was diqualified for kicking his opponent in the groin and as a result his opponent could not continue.

2. Adnan Yusoff- Hati Belian Sri Morak
vs
Adik Edi-Sri Teresek

Adik Edi Won

3. Abir Tok Arab-Mutiara Kebakat
vs
M.Rafei Rashid

Abir Tok Arab Won

4. Roman Dohar- Simpangan
vs
Norasmadi Awang-Perodua Kancil

Roman Dohar Won
By the way I have no idea why Norasmadi is called Perodua Kancil, he's not small. Maybe he was a late bloomer?

5. Rofi Tokwan Hassan-Sri Embun
vs
M.Amir Firdaus-Rajawali Bachok

Rofi or better known as Ropi won

Don't forget in these fights you only win through knockout, no points, no knockout no win, so the way these guys fight is so different from what we are used to on the West Coast.

Fight in Kelantan

This Friday and Saturday, Kudin and Zeri will be fighting in Kudin's home state.

Kudin with his trainer Madsue

Kudin the 'King of Sharks' can't wait to fight on home turf. He will be fighting against a guy called 'Mamat' ( that name covers about half the male population of Kelantan) so your guess is as good as mine as to who his opponent will actually be)

Zeri is from Terengganu, he also 'tak sabar nak lawan' so close to home. This young Malaysian Tiger will be fighting a Thai opponent, Dik Sukri.

It's important to us that our fighters don't forget their roots and support the fights organised in their home states. This coming event is organised by Pok Nik.

Zeri & Kudin to fight in Kelantan.

Zeri and Kudin will be fighting in Kelatan, Kudin's home state on the 13th and 14th of this month at an event organised by Pok Nik. Will update you on the outcome of the fight as soon as we know!

Tomorrow Zeri, Kudin, Faizal and Ejo leave for the East Coast. They will be bidding farewell to Koh Samui for the time being. After Zeri and Kudin fight in Kelantan they will be training at our gym in Kelana Jaya. Hamdan will be fighting in Chaweng on the 14th then Mail on the 16th then they too will be moving back to K.L to train at WMC Gym Malaysia. After Malaysia's Super 8 Contender 2 qualifier, we will be organizing fights every 2 weeks. Our fighters and also all the other Malaysian Muaythai talents need this exposure to fights. This will also help them better prepare for the Ultimate Muaythai Warrior. We are also looking for fresh talent. So all you wanna be's and can be's, polish up your gloves and we'll see you soon in at WMC Gym Malaysia!

Fight Update!

Ejo fought last night at Chaweng Stadium in Koh Samui. He lost but put up a good fight against a bigger and more experienced Thai fighter. It's not easy to find a worthy opponent Ejo's weight. Good effort Ejo!

Ali at Gold Coast, Australia

Despite having 4 stitches on his forehead, Ali managed to go out and check some of the tourist destinations in Gold Coast.

One thing that's important to us is to expose our fighters to the world not only in the ring but also to different environments, people, culture and food! You know when you go to Gold Coast you don't have to order chicken rice, right Ali? The chicken rice here costs RM50. Why not try out kangaroo instead?

Yes Ali Kangaroo is 'sedap', very high in protein, good for fighters!!

And this is what happens when you go around catching the endangered wildlife. Like their birds..........hint, hint................you have to ask Ali about this one.

Faizal wins in Chaweng!

Last night didn't go so well in Gold Coast but up north at Chaweng Stadium in Koh Samui, Faizal Ramli won his fight against a Thai opponent.

I don't have the detailed report of his fight but here's the sms update sent to me at 12.21am this morning. I think this sms gives us the feel of what it was like at Chaweng stadium last night-
Sms dari Hamdan-
Pejal(Faizal) menang KO round 4, 'tip' muka budak Siam. Lagi sekali Malaysia jadi perhatian sume kat stadium sokong Malaysia! Permainan yang cantik malam ini...tahniah Malaysian Tigers.

English translation-Faizal won through a KO in the 4th round,'tip' to the Thai guy's face. Malaysia was yet again the centre of attention. Everyone at the stadium were supporting Malaysia! Beautiful fight tonight.........congratulations Malaysian Tigers.

Why send Ali to tough fights?

Anonymous said...

"Ali seemed to be losing ALL his fights lately. What has changed?
He used to win ALL his fights 'before'. Yeah...what has changed?"

Ali at the King's Cup

I think you need to see the quality of fighters that Ali is fighting now.Yes we like Ali to win, but that is not our priority. We want him to get exposure and experience fighting some of the world's best.

Now Ali has been offered a title fight with Chris White,Australia's best in the 57kg category. This is not easy to get but based on his performance with Flip he has managed secure the fight. It is also not easy to get an offer to fight in Australia and let me remind you the overall quality in Australia is very good!

Yeah we could choose easy fights for Ali, but we want more for and from him. If we just give him easy fights, how will he ever improve? What would he learn from it. I'm sure all of you out there who know a little about Muaythai realise what we are trying to do for Ali and in fact all the Malaysian Tigers. We want to develop world class fighters, this would not be possible if we were overly protective and not expose our fighters to the best. If we don't fight at a world class level, how could we possibly know where we stand.

News from the Gold Coast

Ali lost his fight tonight, but everyone is proud of the way he fought!

This picture says a million words
Ali lost to Flip Street tonight but he made Malaysia proud and put up a good fight. During the first round Ali took some heavy punches to the head. Then in the second round Ali was elbowed and received a cut to his right brow(Ali received 4 stitches), but this didn't break his spirit. Ali came back strong in the 3rd round and managed to kick Flip hard twice to the neck but this didn't manage to knock Flip down, maybe his kick wasn't quite as powerful due to Flip's height. In round 4, Ali was hit by a strong uppercut to his jaw and everyone was amazed that he wasn't floored. Overall Ali put up a good fight and everyone was impressed by him. They were also impressed by his fighting spirit.

Ali's weight averages at 57kg but Flip, who during the weigh-in was 60kg had dropped the weight(water etc) to get down to 60kg but the next day after the weigh-in he looked more like 63kg,that would make him 6kg's heavier than Ali, this is what experienced fighters do. This is something Ali and a lot of us need to learn. All said and done, Ali put up a really good fight and proved to us all he's really skilled, tough and that it's not easy to bring him down!

In June Ali will fight Australia Champion, Chris White, for the WMC Asian Title. Chris is 57kg.

Can you feel the heat!!!
It's hard to believe that Contender Asia II is actually going to be filmed in Malaysia and that 2 of our Malaysian Muaythai fighters will have a spot in this show. Amazing! This show is viewed by over 400million people. The only Asian produced show to be aired prime time in the U.S, U.K. and Australia! We get to watch the fights live!!!! Truly awesome.

Coming soon!

The Tigers will be back in Malaysia!!!
And they will be training at the soon to be opened WMC Malaysia Gym in PJ. All our athletes will be back from Koh Samui before Malaysia's Super 8 Contender Asia Qualifier and will be getting into high gear at our very own WMC Malaysia gym.

This is good news for all you Muaythai enthusiasts out there as this fully equipped Muaythai gym will also be opened to the public!

Our Malaysian Tigers will be training full time at WMC Malaysia Gym and they will be trained by some of the best coaches around! Some of these coaches have been training our Tigers at WMC Koh Samui, Thailand.

Also after the Malaysian Super 8, we have sourced a venue where we will be organising Muaythai fights every 2 weeks. We have promised to develop Muaythai in Malaysia and this is yet another step towards doing so.This exposure will prove priceless to our senior as well as up and coming muaythai talents.

Ali vs Flip Street

This is the Title Belt

Ali flew to Gold Coast, Australia yesterday for one of the biggest muaythai battles of his life, THE WAR ON THE SHORE. And let me assure you this won't be a beach party!!!!

For your information Flip hails from Boonchu Gym, John Wayne Parr's gym and is one of his students. John Wayne was runner-up in Contender Asia Season 1. So if Flip fights anything like his coach, this will indeed be a tough fight for Ali.

Ali has been accompanied to Gold Coast, Australia by Bernard who will be his corner man. Bernard will also oversee Ali's training before his fight this Saturday in Gold Coast.

If all goes well, after the fight these guys want to try their luck at surfing. I have a feeling these guys are going to have a great time.

This has been an eventful 6 months for Ali, participation in the IFMA world Championships, winning at the King's Cup, training with some of the world's best in Thailand and now the chance to bring back an international title belt.

If a any of you want to wish Ali luck, please do so here as Ali is now internet savvy and travels with his laptop!
